All our beef supplied through the Butcher comes from native breed Highlanders and Shorthorn cattle from Edinvale Farm in the Highlands. Native breeds are slow growing and require very little human intervention or feeding - within reason they look after themselves. The cattle are fed exclusively on grasses and a foraged diet with any supplemented feeds needed being grown on the farm helping to support their progress towards being completely carbon neutral by 2024.
This is the kind of farming practice Mac & Wild is all about championing - a harmonious ecosystem that looks after itself with lush feed for the animals to graze on year on year. We always try to avoid the word sustainable, but if ever we were to go there, this would be our definition of a sustainable farm.
